2. (a) Candidates should be Citizen of India
b) Eligible NRI candidates can also apply only for NRI quota seats if any, Eligibility to apply under NRI Quota: (as per G.O. Ms. No. 346, Health and Family Welfare Department, dated 19.10.2009)
(i) Candidates should be of Indian Origin settled in Foreign Countries.
Candidates who were born in foreign countries and whose parents are of Indian Origin
Children of Indian citizen stay abroad for employment, business
Children of Indian citizens deputed abroad by Public Sector Undertaking
Children of the Official of the Central/State Government on deputation to abroad.
(ii) The candidates seeking admission to NRI Quota should have hold Indian passport.
(iii) The seats under NRI quota should be utilized by the bonafide NRI’s only and for their children or wards. Therefore, the NRI financially supporting the candidates should either be the parent (Father or Mother) of the candidate or legally declared as guardian of the candidate by the Court as per provisions in “The Guardians and Wards Act 1890”.

3. (a) All candidates seeking admission to MDS courses in Self Financing Dental and dental colleges under Deemed Universities in the State of Tamil Nadu for the academic year 2017-2018 shall have to qualify the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, NEET-MDS-2017 conducted by the National Board of Examinations. It shall be necessary for the candidate to obtain minimum of marks at 50th percentile in ‘NEET-MDS 2017. However, in respect of candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and other Backward Classes the minimum marks shall be at 40th percentile. In respect of candidates with locomotor disability of lower limbs, the minimum marks shall be at 45th percentile. (As per the Government of India letter No. V.12025/181/2016-DE dated 11.05.2017 the percentile has been revised and lowered by 7.5 percentile for the academic session 2017-18 only and fixed as follows: The minimum of marks for general category shall be at 42.5th percentile in ‘NEET-MDS 2017 and for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and other Backward Classes the minimum marks shall be at 32.5th percentile and for the candidates with locomotor disability of lower limbs, the minimum marks shall be at 37.5th percentile).
(b) Candidates who have passed their BDS Examination and completed / completing the CRRI period on or before 31-03-2017 are eligible to apply. However the candidates should possess the permanent Dental Council Registration Certificates of the States or of Dental Council of India at the time of counseling.
4. Candidates must possess B.D.S. Degree of any University recognized by the Dental Council of India. Candidates who have qualified from other Universities should produce ELIGIBILITY CERTIFICATE from University in which candidates seeking admission.
5. The duration of MDS Courses is three years.
